The Faculty of Economics was established in 2003, and in 2021 it was renamed the Faculty of Economics and Services.

Research work of students (RWS) is an obligatory, organically integral part of the training of specialists at the university and is one of the main tasks solved on the basis of the unity of educational and scientific processes. Research work of students and undergraduates is carried out both within the curriculum - educational research work of students, and outside academic work within the framework of the work of scientific circles coordinated by the leaders of scientific circles, as well as those responsible for research work and international relations at the department.

International cooperation is one of the priority activities of the Faculty. Students of our faculty have the opportunity to study at one of our foreign partner universities, to improve their English, to learn one of the world languages, in addition, to participate in international scientific conferences and symposia.

During the current academic year, 6 contracts with foreign partners were signed; Eskisehir Osmangazi University (Turkey, Eskisehir), Antalya Bilim University (Turkey, Antalya), Baltic International Academy (Latvia, Riga), Altai State University (Russia, Barnaul); Amur State University (Russia, Blagoveshchensk), Osh University of Technology named after Academician M. In the future, it is planned to develop an international double diploma program for students and masters together with Antalya Bilim University, Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Baltic International Academy, and Altai State University.

In the 2018-2019 academic year within the implementation of budgetary funds (Order of MES RK dated 11.04.2018) the following students were trained on academic mobility at Turiba University (Latvia):

Within the framework of internal academic mobility for the academic year 2020-2021 students of 2-3 courses of educational programs "Restaurant and hotel business", "Tourism", "Management", "State and local administration", "Accounting and audit" and "Finance" were delegated to Almaty Technological University, Karaganda Technical University and Innovative Eurasian University (Pavlodar) for studying in distance mode.

During the summer period of 2020-2021 academic years, it is planned to organize an international internship for 2-3 courses students of educational programs "Tourism", "International tourism", "Restaurant business and hotel business" within the framework of a practical training program TELP together with Antalya Bilim University and Rixos Hotels.

In the academic year, 2020-2021 within the framework of academic mobility of teaching staff and exchange of experience foreign professors from the Institute of Transport and Communications (Germany), Varna Technical University (Bulgaria), Higher School Humanitas (Poland), Penza State University (Russia), Tomsk Polytechnic University (Russia), Tashkent Chemical Engineering Institute (Uzbekistan), Osh University of Technology (Kyrgyzstan), Ryskulbekov Kyrgyz Economic University were invited to conduct lectures in online format.

In recent years, more than 100 people of the teaching staff of the faculty have undergone advanced training at the Almaty Technological University, as well as in many universities, research centers, in different sections and areas of study.

Within the framework of a trilateral agreement with «CenterSoft» LLP, online training of the teaching staff of the department on the 1C-enterprise software product was carried out.

At the faculty at the department «History of Kazakhstan and social and humanitarian disciplines» there is a «School of improving pedagogical skills» for teachers developed a program, position (compiled by Ph.D., Ass.prof. Balkunova NP). The «School of improving pedagogical skills» (hereinafter ShIPS) is a form of improving the professional level of novice teachers.

ShIPS assists new teachers in mastering professional knowledge, skills and abilities in the field of higher education pedagogy, didactics, psychology, in the study of new methods and innovative teaching technologies, contributes to the development of the creative potential of the teacher's personality. Structurally, the theoretical course of the school for improving pedagogical skills is divided into the following modules: organization and methods of teaching in higher educational institutions; socio-psychological foundations of pedagogical activity. Module 1 «Organization and methodology of teaching in higher educational institutions» involves consideration of issues: organisation and methodology of teaching in higher education institutions; social and psychological foundations of pedagogical activity.

The dual learning system (DualesStudium) includes practical and theoretical knowledge at the same time. The theoretical part of the course takes place at university and the practical part at the company.

To date, the departments of the faculty conducted a series of measures to strengthen ties with well-known employers in the economy, management in the market of tourism, hospitality and financial services such as: JSC «Akmolaturist», hotel and restaurant complex Rixos President Astana, Tourism Fund «Touristik Kamkor», LLP «SAYAT-TRAVEL», «Industrial Innovation Company ASTANA Yutaria Ltd», Bank CenterCredit. On January 12, 2018, a branch of the department was opened on the basis of the Rixos President Hotel Astana.

The opening of a branch of the department is an important form of cooperation between the university and the enterprise. Joint work in the training of future specialists will be successful and effective. Students will gain good practical experience at the branch of the department.

The branches of the department are a subdivision of the Department of Management and Tourism «Economics, Accounting and Audit» of the Faculty of Economics and Service, uniting the teachers of the department and employees of Akmolaturist JSC and Rixos President Hotel Astana, Bank CenterCredit providing joint educational, organizational, methodological and research work.

These courses are taught by senior teachers of the English language of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines Babzhanova G. Zh. (Pre-intermediate level). In their classes, teachers use an innovative approach using a communicative methodology. The main task of the communicative method of teaching foreign languages is to help the student get rid of the language barrier.
